İngilizce'de konuşmacının bir eylem ile ilgili görüşü veya fikri hakkında bilgi veren, veya eylem hakkında yorumu yapan zarflar ve zarf niteliğindeki ifadeler bulunur. Bu zarflar diğer zarflardan farklıdır çünkü bize bir olayın nasıl meydana geldiği hakkında bilgi vermezler. Görüş ve yorum zarfları, yalnızca bir fiil, zarf veya sıfatı nitelemek yerine cümlenin tamamını niteler. Görüş zarfları ile yorum zarfları arasında cümle içerisinde bulundukları konum dışında pek bir fark yoktur. Görüş zarfı olarak kullanılan birçok zarf aynı zamanda yorum zarfı olarak da kullanılabilir. Ancak bazı durumlarda, bir zarf diğerine göre çok daha yaygındır.
Cümle içerisinde kullanım
Görüş zarfları cümle başında, nadiren de cümle sonunda bulunurlar. Genellikle cümlenin geri kalanından virgül ile ayırılırlar. Yorum zarfları, temel fiilin "to be" olmadığı durumlarda fiilden önce gelir, "to be" olduğu durumlarda ise fiilden önce veya sonra gelebilir. Bazı durumlarda, temel fiilden önce gelen yorum zarfları, her ne kadar çoğu durumda olmasa da, cümlenin geri kalanından virgül ile ayrılırlar. Aşağıdaki örneklerde görüş ve yorum zarflarının doğru kullanımları gösterilmektedir. Olağan dışı, doğal olmayan, veya konuşma dili için çok resmi olan kullanımlar yıldız ile işaretlenmiştir.
